yeah, we knew this was coming. plenoptic cameras have always been theoretically possible...the issues have been in the 1. sensor and 2. processing. Everyone's been working on the tech...the question was who was going to be first to market...what remains to be seen is whether first commercial tech will work well enough.

there's a huge waiting list and without a reservation code you can't even order one. i sort of want one. it's on the list after a new iphone and an eames lounge chair

I'd love to have one to mess around with. I already have a perfectly good Nikon DSLR & several lenses.
And if it means I have to look at fewer crappy/out-of-focus/underexposed camera-phone pictures all over the fucking place, I'm all for it.
