*of course, the best picture of 2011 may not be Best Picture material.

In the Best Actor category: Michael Fassbender was robbed. And I am told that as good as Ryan Gosling was in The Ides of March (and hello, no nod to George Clooney for Best Director?) he was equally fine in Drive so that may be an injustice as well.
I hated Tree of Life so very much I wanted after viewing it to slap the director. Pretentious swill with deadly boring, albeit beautiful to behold and no doubt off the charts technically, fantasy bits that made me glad I was watching at home and could go empty the dishwasher or somesuch until that part was over.

There are lots of things to like about The Artist, but I think the concept is actually better than sitting through it. Once you get it, you have to keep sitting there until it's over. That said, a movie about movies probably has a leg up on other films.yeah, i can't say i'm all that excited about any of the best picture nominees. Althoguh i'm looking forward to seeing The Artist.

Apparently the audience figures weren't great. I wonder if it's just possible that Billy Crystal doesn't appeal to a younger demographic? I mean, it comes across as corny, embarrassingly old-fashioned schtick to me, and I'm over fifty.
Not sure Flomax jokes really strike a chord with a general audience.

Not even Justin Bieber could save Billy. Too bad Eddie Murphy dropped out. Chris Rock would have been a better choice than Billy.I guess nobody here cared much about the telecast either. I did watch it, because I find it a pleasant way to spend an evening in a bar, and I am always on the look-out for that.

I had to look it up to see what it was!
I liked the show for the most part. I loved Emma Stone - her enthusiasm seems so genuine. I also loved Jim Rash mimicking Angelina Jolie's pose. In fact, I think Jim Rash would make a great host.

Well, maybe. His background with the Groundlings was as a writer, more than as a performer.I also loved Jim Rash mimicking Angelina Jolie's pose. In fact, I think Jim Rash would make a great host.

He's on Community now so I assume he's comfortable in front of the camera.
