The Iron Chef continues to expand his reach with a new place in Palm Springs, CA. This will join a soon to open place at the Revel casino in Atlantic City. Fourteen places in all, the article says

n a long-rumored deal announced today, the Iron Chef will carry the executive chef's title at The Saguaro, a new luxury property in the Mojave Desert owned by the Sydell Group and Joie de Vivre.

Garces will oversee room service and poolside food and will run a Wild West-themed modern Mexican frontier bar-restaurant called El Jefe (complete with biker gang memorabilia) and an outpost of his more refined Rittenhouse Square hit, the Spanish tapas bar Tinto.

Tinto is, by far, the best restaurant I have eaten at in Palm Springs.

The menu is made up of small plates designed for sharing, and there were four of us, so we got to taste a lot of the menu.

Duck confit and serrano ham canapes - these were one of my favorite dishes. The duck was super condensed and yummy.

Short rib bocadillo - one of the only dishes that was just so-so

Lamb brochetas - another star of the meal. They called the sauce a sherry jus. It was rich and lovely.

Bomba rice with white asparagus and maitake mushrooms - this was a fantastic dish. My family thought it was boring - I thought it was delicate and lovely

Diver scallops with bacon and cider demi-glace - my poor Mother. She usually eats early in the evening and like a bird and doesn't drink much. Except when I'm in town Diver scallops are her favorite thing on earth and she always orders then. Unfortunately by the time these came to the table she was toast. I thought they were great!

Iberico pork loin - OMG, this was another show stopper. The meat was so moist and... porky.

Baby artichokes with pappardelle and meyer lemon sauce - this might have been my favorite dish of the night. I which it had come earlier and not with all the heavier meats.

Bread pudding with caramel sauce, creme fraiche ice cream and champagne jelly - my brother is the dessert fan. I had a bite. It was fine.

The space was nice and the service was good. The hotel itself is crazy! I hope the rooms aren't the same colors as the exterior!
