Barboncino
781 Franklin Avenue
Crown Heights, Brooklyn
718-483-8834, barboncinopizza.com

Yup, it's my favorite pizza in brooklyn. We had the margherita and the clam pizza yesterday.. Wowza, both are so delicious.. It is the tomato sauce that really brings this pizza over the edge..

In Brooklyn these days, there are many really wonderful pizza places. Sotto Casa, Forcella, Lucali's, Guiseppina, Saraghina, and the list continues.. All of these places make a beautiful pie with wonderful toppings and cheeses.. however, this just happens to be the place where I like the tomato sauce the best.

Oh, I will be back for sure.

Came back yesterday around what restaurants have decided is brunch time. I don't know, is it a cop out to be serving a breakfast lunch hybrid at 3:30 afternoon, I think so. The menu is condensed but, still pretty delicious.

Miss K while not hungry, decided she would have a slice of pizza. She ate all but one slice after trying that first piece.

This is the plain Margherita Pizza:

Clam Pizza. While it was not on the "brunch" menu, they still would make it for us. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as good as it normally is. We should have stuck with the menu. But, they did offer to make it for us.

Though ridiculously thin, it was not super crisp. It had the perfectly chewy texture. It is an amazing pie. Both of them were.

Friday night we went to Sottocasa, Sunday we went to Barboncino. Miss K still loves the Calzone at Sottocasa the best but, she needs to go back to Saraghina to decide which is her favorite pizza place. Brooklyn is waiting with baited breath.

Look's quite Roberta's/Motorino like.

My question - do they use a cooked tomato sauce for the pie, or are they using a high quality canned product that is basically used "as-is?"

I see it just got a new cheese store, The Wedge.  Mind you, Franklin Avenue above and below Eastern Parkway are two very different propositions.
