An apparently successful business re-creating the characteristics of "Brooklyn" water for pizza making, bagel making, and general enjoyment in South Florida has foundered in a maelstrom of lawsuits, according to a report in Gothamist.

The short story is an entrepreneur developed a system which removes some minerals, adds others, and delivers a water said to resemble that of Brooklyn. In south Florida, where the local water is uniformly crappy, this is not an idle accomplishment. Esp to pizza makers, bagel makers, and others.

Also, this being Florida, it also brought franchising, lawsuits, and financial distress:

Greenbaum is suing the Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. for more than $2 million in damages, "saying he never would have wanted to develop franchises if he hadn't been duped into believing there was a patented process to "Brooklynize" water." According to his lawyer, "The water filtration system is not unique and does not render water equivalent to Brooklyn water. You want Brooklyn water, go to Brooklyn. You want a Brooklyn bagel, go to Brooklyn."

Faked water?

Contrast this to Rutt's Hut, an old school Jersey hot dog legend. You can't even get across the parking lot without encountering pigeons who are so bold that they try to take bites of hot dogs from people who are walking to their cars. These pigeons are so brazen that they routinely shake down rats for lunch money.
