This has launched, of course, a storm of protest. Pork pies, pasties and sausage rolls are beloved icons of Britishness, and politicians meddle with them at their peril.
More here.

Eight Mile Creek in SoHo used to have a mini-pie platter on the lunch menu, but I haven't been there in a while.

DUB offers a mince n cheese pie, which I think is NZ style. they also sell lammingtons. maybe it's pan-antipodean?There's also DUB Pies in Brooklyn and Pie Face in Midtown--both Aussie-style.
I'll try the midtown place too.

"There is nothing I like better than a meat pie wi' chips and a nice pint o' mild," said Old Etonian David Cameron, tugging at his braces. "Pass me a ferret."

It turns out where he last claims to have eaten a pie is not where a man of the people should be finding his pasties.Hilarious. "I too am a pasty eater." This is the same week one of his former ministers has been criticizing him for being an out of touch "toff."

the DUB pies I had recently weren't as good as I remembered them being, but I'll probably have them again if I'm in the area.
I also had some at allswell that I really, really liked. rich buttery crust, nice pork, etc. wish they made a mince n cheese.

There's a pork pie at the Beer Authority bar in the Port Authority, but I haven't got around to trying it yet.
