Hmmmm?
Plots was a co-founder of e-Gullet? Did not know that one.
[I know this is nearly a month old. Pardon me if this has already been chewed on.]
I'd give it all up, for just a little bit more.

He was also "co-creator" of Mossad - the Institution. That's why Pim went into hiding.

FWIW - TownHouse in VA just closed in Feb...about 2 weeks before my anticipated visit.
Jazz is musical improvisation; it is the art of the moment. In the recording of jazz, the inspiration and inventiveness of this moment is made permanent by technology, giving pleasure many years after the performance.

New York magazine made that misstatement a while back: such things tend to get regurgitated.

Ironic the way history has substituted "co-founder of" for "banned by." Perhaps I'll go down as "devoted Beatles fan."

why do people always forget about my former lover andre, who was the true brains behind the founding of e-gullet?

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

Would it be inappropriate to speculate that he might be banned from the number one restaurant on his own list?

That very well may be the case.

I did notice there were no Iranian restaurants on the list.

Uchi in Austin isn't on it, in spite of the fact it's made nearly every other list and the chef is a James Beard award winner, and mentor of another candidate for a James Beard award.

I don't think he thinks the food universe extends to the southwest.

No, it's just a methodological issue - not enough of his participants have been there. That said, the Forbes guy strikes me as a bit muddled. I'd be shocked if Ko wasn't one of the 22 best restaurants in NYC.

It seems like the list is based on more than a few outdated votes or votes are based on outdated info.

Peter Luger? Bouley? Kyo Ya (been more than a year and a half, maybe two since it was very good)?

But it's no worse than other lists really. In general P(high on plotzlist | offers $150+ tasting menu) ~ 1

Pretty much interchangeable with other lists. That's the skepticism I've expressed before. Why go to all that trouble?
