“Per Variety, Daily Show correspondents Jason Jones and Samantha Bee have inked a deal with CBS to write and star in a sitcom about a celebrity chef and the two women who run his empire. That has eyebrows raised over at PX This, since, it turns out, their queen bee Abbe Diaz has spent over a year shopping a treatment based on her own book about her experiences with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Eric Goode, and Sean MacPherson. A PX This rep, Angel Yamura, tells us that at this time they have no proof it’s anything other than a coincidence, but it’s a pretty ‘big’ and ‘odd’ coincidence. Meanwhile, Yamura says Diaz’s Webisodes will start filming in early spring (Michael Imperioli, Steven R. Schirripa, and John Ventimiglia of The Sopranos are onboard for cameos) and will debut on PX This’s site mid next year, assuming the producers can find someone fierce enough to play the role of Diaz. We can’t wait to see how they cast the character that’s ‘loosely based’ on Jean-Georges.”

I don't want to watch either series, but I'd LOVE to watch the lawsuit.

Go get 'em, Abbe.

So would we! Too bad we have the First Amendment on our side. Could explain why they never had the guts to sue over the book.

Oops, I mean bookS, plural. --> http://www.pxthis.co...ch-the-trailer/

To be clear, I meant YOUR lawsuit. You were out there first. Unfortunately, the First Amendment probably queers it for both of you.

Ohh, I see. Thank you!

But it looks like perhaps Sam Bee and Jason Jones have backed down. We have emails that prove the series treatment had been circulating at least two major Hollywood agencies for some time. So their series would have to be reasonably different to protect them from a plagiarism suit from us, which obviously we would have pursued had their series proven quite similar.

But, it's been awhile already for both parties. We are clearly currently in (long-delayed) production, whereas they are still "as-yet-unnamed" and "as-yet-unwritten." There has been no further elaboration/development on their series at all.

By the way, were you the person who met the Gansevoort/Standard F&B Director at the bar at Minetta Tavern? Just curious.

You can't see her very well, but she's actually in that teaser trailer. In the closing title scene. Sitting next to Whatsisface the bald banker dude.
