Read the full details here.

10. Reynard's (at the Wythe Hotel)
9. Pok Pok
8. Cafe Demi-Monde
7. M.Wells Dinette
6. M.Wells Catamaran Steakhouse
5. Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya (Whatever)
4. Nicoletta (M. White pizza)
3. The Butterfly (M. White cocktails)
2. Mission Chinese Food
1. Brooklyn Fare Manhattan

Mostly chains, aren't they? :ph43r:

Also, Brooklyn Fare Manhattan is too small to count as a "proper restaurant". Minimum seating for that, 12.

Now that the mayonnaise store is open, who can anticipate anything else?

I'd say WE anticipate it, because we live near there. But it's hard to say that the NYC food community should be very excited about the opening of the FOURTH branch of that chain.

Am I correct in pointing out that there isn't a single hamburger or meatball place on the list? In fact, only one pizza place too. That can't be too awful can it?

But there are two Michael White places. And the one in my neighborhood may (or may not) be serving Wisconsin-based food. Although not, I hope, the food I ate in four years in Wisconsin.

the people who flock to dine at the restaurant on account of its reputation/stars are getting their money's worth because what they are after is a piece of the reputation/stars and nothing else. their money is not wasted. -- mongo jones, 11/5/2014

I was really excited by Mission Chinese's opening, until I heard from a respected food person that it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Another burger place is opening up in Astoria - "Famous Hamburger," a franchise based in Dearborn, MI. I rolled my eyes at first - Astoria does not really need another burger joint - but they I realized that it is Halal and hookah friendly, which will give those in the Arab community that eat Halal meat a real option of a burger joint. It's going in on Steinway Street.

You make it sound like an FBI sting operation.

We had Mission Chinese on the list for a coming SF visit, but it lost against some places... I guess we'll try it in nyc at some point.
