An interesting play. A monologue biography of Shakespeare, interspersed with lots of bits from the plays. As the actor took us through Shakespeare's life, he would cut to bits of monologue or dialog from the plays. I thought it could have used more structure. Overall it was good, not great. Ian McKellen's "Acting Shakespeare" was much better.

Simon Callow was pretty good, not great, and he looked more like Peter Ustinov than Simon Callow.

It has been agreed that the acoustics at BAM suck and it's nigh on impossible to understand a good deal of what's being said on stage. The seats down in the orchestra are, however, comfortable.

Just take those old records off the shelf.
