He was an AOR radio pioneer in the 1960s. I used to listen to his Saturday show on WFUV. His career had it's ups and downs - it wasn't really his fault. The music he loved came into fashion and then gradually became less popular.

Of course it's still around. About 5 years ago I was at a show at a NJ college where he introduced some new acts along with Cheryl Wheeler. He seemed happy and relaxed, proud of what he'd done with his career.

While I knew he went to Fordham I didn't realize he was a Bronx boy. The WFUV obit mentions that he has 3 sons - one is a book editor, one a wine importer, and the 3rd is a NYC cop.

One of the first DJs I became aware of when I moved to NYC in 1971, & New York rock radio was still worth listening to. Sad news.

I used to listen to him in the '80s on WNEW--him and Scott Muni.
