At age 84.

Had my hair cut in his salon in London, 1971. Not by him, and not one of those geometric bobs, just a straight-across version of my halfway-down-my-back hair. Although one of my high school classmates had had one of those bobs, very daring. Were the Swinging Sixties really that long ago . . .

A constant presence on British TV when I was growing up. All purpose celebrity, and always so nicely turned out.

I used to get my hair cut at the NY salon (not by him) and also had one of those bobs. I'll try to find a photo.

I went to a new stylist yesterday who trained in London at Sassoon in the 70's. I have a version of the classic bob today. And oddly, we spent much of the appointment talking about the school and what Sassoon was like back in the day. Was very sad to read the news when I was back on the computer.

If you have a few minutes to spare this is a documentary about the 43 group which was a Jewish anti-fascist organisation that Vidal Sassoon was improbably a member of when he was 17.
