Real feel in Manhattan right now, 105F, and I believe it too. No shortage of places to fry eggs.

It's supposed to cool off significantly in a couple of days. Temperatures back in the 70s. A good thing too. I don't put my air conditioners in until mid to late June and the nights have been pretty uncomfortable.

Right. It's impossible to do anything in this weather except sit in a dark bar, drinking iced beer, and watching baseball. My definition of hell.

Having said that, @BatteryParkCity Doubters, Rockefeller Park turned out again to be a good holiday choice - busy enough, but not insanely crowded or noisy. A short walk to the stretch of Greenwich Street where they have something resembling cafe terraces. Cava outside Sarabeth's to finish the afternoon.

Same thing, free drinks, no hangover. :D

I have washed my hair four times in as many days (usually it's once or twice a week). My living room a/c is busted and I have discovered that cowering in the (fairly, but not really) cool bedroom is giving me cabin fever. So I sit in the living room, fans going, drinking gallons of water and iced green tea. Everything I eat gives me an upset stomach, because as I am discovering it can actually be TOO HOT TO EAT. I had one gin and tonic last night and it made me really quite drunk, whether due to lack of food or dehydration I know not. And looking at the forecast shows no relief.

I am on my way to PC Richard to try and buy an a/c that my ancient wiring will withstand, and to beg them to install ASAP.

Good luck with getting a new A/C. Hopefully they'll have a nice selection in stock.

I purchased my first air conditioner ever this year, after living, and stewing, for 30 some odd years in my top floor apartment.Gotta say it's wonderful at times, but I still use it with reserve, fearing astronomical electric bills....and liking open windows. But do love the delay feature which has my apartment cool-ly waiting after I climb the stairs at the end of another #@*! hot day in the kitchen...
G*d is in the details...

The last few days have been rather hellish but on the bright side, June was mostly fine and that can be hit or miss. Yesterday I (and every other yuppie) had the bright idea to see Moonrise Kingdom (EXCELLENT) to escape the heat. Did you know that BAM has a matinee price? I thought that went the way of the doodoo bird.

We have a thread (created by me) called something like Warm Weather Food or something but I cannot find it. Anyone remember what it was called or how to find it?
