BA and Delta are ramping up a little price war to fill empty business class seats during the summer. Right now its only out of London, but still this is pretty crazy and speaks to how bad business traffic between the US and Europe is getting. Traditionally its stated that front of the plane JFK-LHR is the single most profitable fare in the world, so to see cuts there is quite remarkable

I'd like to see some cuts in domestic air travel. There's really nowhere I want to go domestically for $770 round trip.

Still need a legitimate reason to get your company to pay for the flight.

I have a meeting next week in Kansas City and my flight from Minneapolis is $870. If I had gone on Southwest with a layover somewhere I could have shaved that down to $770.

I flew SFO->JFK for under 300 last week. I did buy a ticket for a friend a week later which was over double that price though.

Newark to St. Louis is half that. Of course you still may not want to go there.

Virgin America was recently running a promotion with NYC-SFO and NYC-LAX for less than $300. We added CUN->SFO->JFK to our CUN rountrip for just $25 extra (although that entailed doing immigration in Houston, which is the worst airport on the planet ex-Liberia)

Also, Delta was (maybe is) offering various routes from LGA for very little after (I think LGA-YUL was at $220, which is as cheap as I've seen it post TSA)

Europe hasn't been cheap with the exception of London as noted by AB and Istanbul (I saw Istanbul at $580 recently)

I've also seen good fares with Air Malaysia to Asia (including Tokyo) recently (like, you can do NYC->NRT via LAX for under $1000)
I never said that

Newark's fares to key Southwest cities have reached crazy levels. I've seen $300 round trips to Denver, St Louis, Chicago-Midway, etc in recent weeks.

Newark to Chicago is so expensive. I fly LGA to ORD a little less than once a month and my price in normally 180 or 190.

Just bought a R/T, nonstop ticket on Delta from LGA to New Orleans for $250 including taxes.

Delta is having a sale today to LHR from multiple cities-$1776 Business Class. I was going to post a link, but, when I post it, it changes to $2100+. The only thing I can figure is that the sale fare is only being targeted to DL Skymiles members. Because when I check while logged in, it still shows me the sale fare. Not logged in, higher prices. So, if you are a DL FF, log in and check it out. Travel has to be booked by midnight. Departures between July 5 and August 12. Travel must be completed by 9/12. The only other restriction is you must stay a Saturday night.
