NJ.com reports a fire at the manufacturer of the iconic spiced pork breakfast product.

The Case Pork Roll factory in Trenton was badly damaged in a three-alarm blaze this morning, though no injuries have been reported, police said.

The fire began around 7:30 a.m. at the landmark factory in the Chambersburg section of the city and was declared under control around two hours later, said Officer Pete Szpakowski, a Trenton police spokesman.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In my gastronomic judgment, Case's product is a little spicier than the comparable Taylor product. For folks who don't have cholesterol concerns, Case's pork roll makes a wonderful sandwich when combined with a grilled Thomas's English muffin, a fried egg, and hot sauce. Chili is optional.
