Restaurant.com laid off its entire outside sales force Thursday as part of a company-wide reorganization effort, sources close to the situation told FINS. Restaurant.com has also laid off its chief sales officer, all regional vice presidents, all regional sales managers and field trainers, according to one source.

The company, which partners with restaurants to offer gift certificates to diners, will move to a contractor model where sales associates, restaurant consultants and multi-unit managers get paid on a commission-only basis, according to two former employees who asked not to be named.

Restaurant.com is a deals site catering to restaurants that want to draw in new customers via the Web. Many such sites have popped up since the founding of Groupon, the big Chicago-based social couponing business whose business model has come under scrutiny since it went public last year.
