Early Eats

Was going to attempt the Salon at Per Se, maybe early food at the Lincoln, maybe JG?
I'm leaning towards a larger meal at lunch and nap before the show rather than early dinner but anything goes.
Any good suggestions?
Thanks!

When we have evening tickets, we usually book EMP at 1:30 p.m. for a long, lazy lunch. We then go for a late supper after the performance.
I didn't realize EMP was open Saturday afternoons

(I don't, either.)
(I guess the takeaway is, don't put crucial info in the Topic Subtitle.)

We've always enjoyed the brunch at Bar Boulud, which starts serving at noon. It's not a huge meal that requires a postprandial nap, but the multiple courses add up, the food is always tasty, and the price is very reasonable.

I'm confused (what else is new?): are your tickets for a matinee or an early evening (as in 5:00pm-ish) show?

We've got tickets for Kurt Elling later (9:00) but I'm prone to long meals, and a bottle or two of wine. That said, I can eat early and proper, enjoy a nap, enjoy some jazz, then snack after.
The original plan was dinner at 5:00-6:00 but we're exploring her options. She put the trip together with the intention of Per Se, not realizing the scope of the dinner reservation policy.
I was even thinking JG and maybe light fare at Lincoln after.
Also, somewhere Romantic as well as upscale would be nice as I want to thank her for putting this trip together.

Sorry I didn't read your subtitle before my first reply.
Tocqueville is a very good fit for what you have in mind. i.e., one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the city. They offer a 5-course tasting menu during lunch.
La Grenouille serves lunch on Saturday and would be another excellent choice for upscale and romantic.

Your pics of Tocqueville are great, it's a possibility but Le G maybe a little too subdued. We always like eating at the bar pretty much, and we
re out often. She's a pescetarian so she's a bit choosy. Maybe even Le Bernardin for the 5:15 first call, Marea, etc.

You can get their full menu at the bar, BTW. (Meaning at the actual bar: they don't serve it at the lounge seats.)

If she's a pescetarian, why not Le B?

I'm trying to steer her that way over Per Se.
She's very focused on us having a 5 star weekend and I only managed to grab the food portion after showing her the menu and wine list prices.
I'm looking at the Salon at PS, LeB, EMP, or Lincoln (I've never been and it looks like a great space)mnost likely
or JG Lunch and something after.

Thanks for the compliment!
If you don't want subdued, then forget Tocqueville. It doesn't get a lot of business at lunch, so it's very quiet (which never deters us). La Grenouille, on the other hand, gets a pretty good lunch crowd and is fairly lively. The Dover sole is one of our favorite things to order there. (Photos)
You might want to consider Ai Fiori. There's quite a lot of seafood on the menu. During our recent dinner there, the fish we had was exquisite.

Lincoln is great, but you'll be part of the rush - probably won't be as special occasion-y feeling.

As far as Per Se, your options are a 1:30 main dining room reservation (the latest reservation available), a Salon spot just before 2pm (the latest Salon sit down time - but I would confirm that), or either at 5:30. Saturday 5:30 might be hard to get in the dining room though. If you do get a Salon Spot at 5:30 (pretty much guaranteed if there are no private events) I can't imagine you wouldn't be out the door for a 9pm show.

Thanks! If Per Se is the choice, most likely Salon at 5:30.
