The current issue of Food & Wine magazine offers several suggestions for weekend and longer getaways in the Hudson Valley.

The writer Gina Hamadey describes three places in Hudson, two in Beacon, and one each in Irvington-on-Hudson and Cold Spring. Most appear to be on the Amtrak line or the Metronorth Hudson Line.

Among the places mentioned are MP Taverna from Michael Psilakis in Irvington, NY; The Hop in Beacon NY with its 100 beers; Cafe La Perche in Hudson with its Breton style breads, etc.

The most anticipated hotel opening in the valley is the Rockwell Group-designed The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls. The hotel doesn’t open until fall, but the cocktail lounge is already serving drinks like the Smoke, made with mezcal, lime juice and chipotle syrup. 2 E. Main St., Beacon, NY; roundhousebeacon.com.

A branch of MP Taverna is about to open in Astoria, Queens, which appears to be on the N and Q lines of the BMT.
