Well, judging from the photos of the Provence Dinner ya-all just created I think it would take something REALLY fabulous to excite you. That's an awfully prosaic-looking menu! Or is it me being jaded?

I'm thinking about it. Maybe if we go with you we'll finally have a great Union experience. That reminds me, is anyone else here going to the Bittman Cooks and Books dinner?

We'd considered going to the Bittman dinner, and we still may. I like the idea, I just have never really gotten much out of Bittman's books, and I sure don't need two copies.

I suppose it is, but then again the book is called "Everyday Italian"That's an awfully prosaic-looking menu! Or is it me being jaded?

I don't know where they all came from all of the sudden. I used to really enjoy seeing them once a year or so. They aren't hard to make. Maybe everyone is just discovering that.Gougeres... they're the new black. Seriously, why are they on every menu now?

And even more funny is this sentence from one of the reviews:If you want a laugh, go and read the reviews for Giada's book on Amazon. Apparently there are hundreds of shots of Giada and few of the actual food.
"This cookbook will not satisfy those with training in "haute couture," but what a find for the everyday cook. "
Is "Everyday Italian" the new black?

"But there's tacos, Randy. You know how I feel about tacos. It's the only food shaped like a smile....A beef smile."

Damnit! And just when I'm about to start working within a couple blocks from them.Ahhhh!
No more lunch at Union! Yesterday's P-I had a little blurb in it that they would be closing for much to focus on dinner, and the hours shortened a little too. Their new hours are 5-11pm.

In an even stranger move, Osteria La Spiga is no longer serving lunch either. Now open 7 nights a week though.
But on the Che Guevara highway filling up with gasoline
Fidel Castro's brother spies a rich lady who's crying
Over luxury's dissapointment
So he walks over and he's trying
To sympathize with her, but thinks that he should warn her
That the Thirld World is just around the corner
