A friend just told me that Anthony Sher was not his favourite Richard III and I am sitting here with Jarrett on the stereo and sancerre chilling in the fridge

Let's face it. Much as I would like to be a hard nosed northerner from the wrong side of the tracks, I am middle class and proud of it. No red fitted carpets and no chinless inbreeding

So what gives you away?

I own an apartment, but it's a one-bedroom in Queens.

I have a middle management job.

I rent(but it is two bedrooms), at least you own.

Do all the empty Coors Light cans and Club Lemon bottles in my weekly trash give anything away?

Wife (only one, ever), two kids (boy and girl two years apart), two cars, a four BR Cape Cod on a little over a 1/4 acre lot. Play golf. I wear polo shirts, khakis and Clark's almost as a uniform.

Six weeks ago I could not have denied it, but since striking out on my own, I doubt my income qualifies as middle class.

Oh, how I long for home delivery of the NY Times again . . .

I have a paid-off mortgage, a husband who works in television and a Sub-Zero fridge.
