I guess someone had to step up and go on the IR now that Reyes aint a Met. Too bad it's Wright... he was just hitting his stride and on pace for 160something RBIs. How's the 1st baseman holding up so far? I'll bet ol' Ike is avoiding the Met doctors as much as possible lest they kill him this year.

stop me if I've told this before. Back in '84, during football season, a local radio disc jockey related a funny tale from a guy who had two tickets to a Patriots game he couldn't use. He drove to the mall to do some shopping and left the two tickets under his windshield wipers with a sign, "Free". When he came back to the car, there were four tickets under the wipers.

There's a chute under that box that leads directly to a giant dumpster.

In Park Slope there's a pleasant neighborhood tradition of book adoption. You place your old books by the railing of your brownstone and passers by scan the titles and adopt the ones they want to read. People put them out on Saturday mornings and by the middle of Sunday afternoon they're gone.

Except for my neighbor who put out her graduate level sociology books. Just walking past those things was dangerous. It was the equivalent of the Siren Song of Stupefaction. It made you want to go to sleep right there on the sidewalk. She put out about 15 of them on a sunny Saturday in May. She picked up the same 15 volumes on Sunday night and put them in the trash.

After missing 3 games suffering through a broken pinkie, David Wright climbed out of his bed of agony and went 3 for 5 with yet another RBI. A home run. He's hitting .588 with 5 RBIs.

A-Rod went 0-4 with no RBIs. He's got 1 for the year. And he's hitting .226.

ETA - The Mets are 6-2. We may want to save all the choice "the Mets suck" jokes until they actually start sucking. I've got no doubt that they'll come back to earth soon enough but I think they may be a .500 team. Maybe a bit better.

Wright wasn't going to hit .588 for the season. He's coming back to earth but still hitting well. Rodriguez, OTOH, is really struggling except with his bank account. He's earning $30 million this year, about twice as much as Jeter and Cano.
