Speaking of Mexican and Villages, 12th St West of University now has two Mexicans next to each other: A torta place and a taco place. The taco place used to be a Mexican Place, just much cheaper looking, before it became a retarded pricey sandwich place and is now a (pricier looking) Mexican place again.

The torta place used to be Osso Bucco, right?

No. That's still there under a different name. Tortaria used to be another mediocre Italian called Buona Sera, I think.

ETA: Osso Bucco is now Scarpina.

g. johnson is correct.

Osso Buco was firmly on University and per google images is now Scarpina.

Fredi's is now Dorado Tacos (http://doradotacos.com/filter/nyc/NYC)

Buona Sera is now Tortaria (http://tortaria-nyc.com/)

I'll have to walk by to determine the fate of the University Stationary place that used to live in between Fredi's and Buona Sera.

Ah, right, thanks. I don't get up there often enough (as My Beloved Aunt Bette, who lives across the street, will be happy to tell me when complaining that I should spend more time with her). Although now that A & V is moving there, maybe I will.

Well, hell, the whole damn building is gone. ;)

Clyde Frazier's hasn't opened yet, but it certainly sounds--and looks--curious.

Doesn't FloFab know that Executive Chefs aren't "in the kitchen"?

(I actually remember reading who the real chef will be. I think I linked it upthread.)

Did Goat Town in the EV get a new publicist? It's been open for quite a while (well over a year) under the radar. I'd been several times, and although it was fine, never really felt compelled to review it.

Last few weeks, I seem to have seen it everywhere, from TONY best sandwiches to a whole bunch of blogs and tweets. I mean, good luck, but it's very striking.

Now that it appears that Ace Hotels is buying the Temple Court building, which restaurateur/chef do you think they might have in their space? [It could be pretty funny whomever bring in, given the Dunkin Donuts directly across the street and Beekman Pub down the block.]

Erminia Ristorante on East 83rd. Certainly a quaint facade:

My buddy lived right next door to this place. We never went..

I was in Williamsburg last night when we drove by this place called Donna. It was a cocktail bar of sorts with lots of different heart dishes on the menu. Everything was written on a chalkboard. Space seemed nice, food on the board sounded interesting.

Also Luna Rossa

Despite its pending grade, that Erminia place is actually quite expensive.

There is this place called Boat House that just opened in Borough Park. It is like those Vietnamese owned Cajun Restaurants that are out west. They serve crawfish, shrimp and crab steamed in bags of garlic and cayenne. Like Hot N Juicy Crawfish out of Las Vegas. I am heading here tonight, I hope.

Boat House
4807 8th Ave
(between 48th St & 49th St)
Brooklyn, NY 11220
Neighborhood: Borough Park

That makes sense, since so many Vietnamese settled in New Orleans and the surrounding area.
