i hate when people ruin the magic and mystery of their glamour jobsMoney is money; sometimes you gotta grin and bear it, but it’s not really the most enjoyable experience. It takes a lot out of you, actually, to make believe you are having a good time.
Oddly, that pretty much how I felt about teaching sometimes.
That's why teachers are only in it for the $! Are there really many jobs that find you "having a good time" - and maybe making decent money at the same time?
I would say that my job qualifies.
I now understand why some people in my field have done it for over 20 years.
I don't think you could pay me enough money to go on to law school. A few years ago, it might have been possible but now ... things are comfortable. I don't see any major moves any time soon.

Online shopping is a lonely pursuit, If you had a heart, you wouldn't begrudge those Internet hunteresses his moral support.Being told, by one of the receptionists, that I can't possibly use our intern, who spends his days passing out the mail and sitting at the reception desk gazing into space, for filing because 'we need him for other things'. What, keeping you company while you spend all day shopping online?
“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

I do miss some of the people I worked with and I'm sure all of my staff misses me tremendously. But, rumor has it, they're getting over it.
Maybe those of us on MF now in this "post work" class can form a nice breakfast group to meet and talk about issues of the day? Uh..... maybe not?

I can see how not going to Arkham Asylum every morning wouldn't be something that would actually gnaw at you much.
I was never really into comic books so I had to look that one up. Actually, the patients were the good part.

i cannot imagine that spending the day with asylum patients could be worse than spending your days in a law firm or investment bank. at least folks in asylums are getting treatment and are not rewarded for anti-social behavior
