ETA: If David Wright continues at his current rate of production, when he has played as long as A-Rod he will be 47th on the list with 411 HRs. But perhaps he has not yet reached his full potential as a slugger.

Ibanez had three RBIs last night, including a big HR, and when Pettitte becomes available, we have to cut someone from the rotation (hello, Phil Hughes). So we're not really sufferin'.

For those of us who miss The Fat Man, Bartolo Colon is pitching for the Oakland A's and doing quite nicely.

Last night he threw 38 straight strikes enroute to beating the Angels 6-0. He's already 3-1 this year with a 2.63 ERA.

The Fat Man was durable last year too. He played in 29 games (he started as a reliever and then became a starter) and pitched 164 innings. 4.0 ERA but when he was going good he was unhittable. When he pulled a muscle in the middle of last year lots of people said "Uh-oh, that's it. His body is finally breaking down." But then he came back quickly and finished strong.
I miss him. What a great story he was last year and it looks like he's still rolling along.

And we could have picked him up for pennies. I'd like to have brought him back for a half-season at least, but we ended up with an over-stocked (not necessarily good, but numerous) rotation as it is.

Attended my first Yankees game of the season on Thursday night. I can't remember the last time I went to a game in April, but it was a lovely, balmy night - even in the 400-seats. Arrived in the middle of the first inning with the Yanks down 4-0. Never expected that Hughes would outlast the Twins starter. Granderson is pretty awesome.
