Headed over for my honeymoon in about a month.

Any recommendations? We'll be in and around Donegal a week and then to Dublin.

So not Northern Ireland? Just Donegal and Dublin? I'll start asking the family. :)

And congratulations!
“And another thing. You don't have to "move on" either. Not until you're ready. People say, Oh, you should be grateful. They say, Oh, it's time for you to move on. I'm like, What are you, a cop with a nightstick? I'll move on when I'm done playing the blues on my harmonica, thank you very much.

Really, people will tell you all kinds of garbage. Don't believe it.

Thanks! I'm thinking a week in the North generally, as a friend has invited us to Donegal for a class in storytelling and Gaelic. Perhaps a few nights in Ardara, then in Inishowen or Rathmullen as well...Belfast sounds as if it could be good fun too.

ah, i was just to start one myself - going in August for about 5 days - 2 in Dublin and 3 somewhere else - Cork? could we make it more general Ireland thread?

and congratulations, Elissa!

Not in this forum, thanks to ...well, history, I suppose.

There are several Ireland threads in the Rest of Europe forum:

Ireland generally
Galway
Cork

The Republic, of course, is not in the UK; Northern Ireland is. :)

no, not in this one. thanks for the tips/links. Ireland severly underexplored on MF

is it because it's tucked away under "Italy and Elswhere in Euopre" :)

Well, we could have separate forums for Italy and Elsewhere in Europe, but the Republic of Ireland would still be in the latter. I have no objection to a forum for the Republic of Ireland itself. Would that be a good idea? It's at best inaccurate to discuss it under the UK (and at worst will really annoy some people).

How about organizing the fora on the basis of colonial status.

ah, but you still drive on the left... and isn't it geographically, historically, etc. closer then Italy or the the Rest of? :)
and possibly why the original post appeared here?

(don't mean to offend anyone just a bit of devil's advocate)

husband steeling for the driving :)

It would be a bit like including Poland in Germany, if I may offer an example. :)

Just trying to help. :) The existing relevant threads were being overlooked. I'm fine with keeping what is primarily a Northern Ireland thread here - but Elissa will find advice on the south elsewhere.

i still don't understand why the one london/uk forum is in a category unto itself. why not a category for "the u.k and europe" and just place all the various european country forums in there?

my annoying opinions: untimely whisky reviews and occasional cultural commentary
