I don't know why Americans are so fixated on our polymer bills? It's not like we're the first country to switch. Australia's been using them for years. Now, the glow in the dark quarter is awesome and I wish I found one in regular circulation!

What Splinky said. That's exactly what I do and makes such a huge difference. I also use ziploc bags, which also makes it easier.

I'll be interested to hear how the trip goes. The next time T and I travel to California to see the family it will be with a 5 month old in tow. I will be reading your thread intently to see how it goes.
Someone has been keeping something from us! Do tell more! (if you want ... no pressure, though!)
Yes, I'm knocked up. Due in September. Being pregnant certainly made eating at Incanto...interesting. ![]()

Many thanks for the suggestions so far. We've taken much of your input on board, stripped the trip back somewhat and planned to do our beach time further south. Yosemite is going to have to wait until next time.
- 5 nights in LA (at Oceana Beach Club in Santa Monica)
I've booked Urasawa. I'd love some suggestions for (i) places in Santa Monica/Venice where it won't be an issue if we turn up for a 6pm booking with a pushchair (ii) best places for coffee in Santa Monica/Venice and (iii) suggestions for a second night out w/o the wee fella, ideally with cocktails and some LA glamour?
- 1 night in Carmina (to break the drive)
- 4 nights in Napa (Petit Logis Inn in Yountville)
Current plan is one baby free night at French Laundry and Ad Hoc (twice?) with the baby. Any views on a 6pm at Bouchon with baby in tow? Any vineyard suggestions?
- 1 night in Los Gatos (The Tollhouse, for Manresa); and
- 5 nights in San Fran (at The Fairmont).
I've booked Saison (without the li'l man). I was thinking La Ciccia, Cotogna and Slanted Door for early dinners with the baby. Maybe State Bird Provisions for a second night out? Best places for (i) coffee (ii) cocktails in downtown San Fran?
Very excited about the trip (if not more than a little scared!)

If you're in Yountville, I HIGHLY recommend lunch at Bistro Jeanty at the very least, if not a dinner. We were there twice 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic. It's also very child friendly and has a lovely patio. In San Francisco, the Burritt Room and Tavern is a pretty funky bar and the drinks that I had last summer were stellar. It's kind of in an odd location but it is walkable from the Fairmont. We also had dinner at Incanto 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic. Both the service and the food were brilliant and again, a room that was child friendly.

Were any of these researchers women?
You really need to ask this? I believe the answer would be no.
And Pras, you are very correct. Gravity takes over very early on no matter what.
