So this whole virtual happy hour thing.

Tonight we participated in one for the first time...small group.

But it amazed me that the people/persons most annoying at real happy hours, is/are still the most annoying at virtual ones.  And maybe even moreso?! Because you can't just get up and walk away, as I've done at Pegu Club.

As if anything else were ever a consideration.

And then I found out that it IS my circus, and they ARE my monkeys..,

Two of the last three nights I received calls soliciting the purchase of a timeshare in Orlando and Las Vegas.

This has to go in the surreal thread because I'm not complaining with an undercurrent of bragging.  We managed to file our taxes in mid-March (electronically) and were owed refunds from both the Federal and State/Local governments.  The pandemic is now severe enough that the filing deadlines are extended.  However, its only April 3rd and we've now received our refunds from both.  WTF?!  We would've gladly agreed to defer these funds for a year if asked (especially from NYS/NYC).

I have now "attended" three happy hours and a dinner and am finding it very easy to walk away. I'm at my house, so no one is coming over to ask me whether I want another drink or something to eat. Thus, I have many reasons to wander off.

This is kinda surreal. Also a reason to be cheerful? Maybe not cheerful, exactly, but something positive.
