I bet you a dime someone calls it that in the news coverage if it perishes.  Which I hope it doesn't.

I am not pretending that restaurants are more important than people, by the way, but I haven't seen news of casualties.

Yes.  Not final of course.

It does say something about the concentration of restaurants in the neighborhood that Eater is covering this as actively as anyone.

This explosion happened two doors from my building. I heard the FDNY busted down the door to my apartment. Heading over now to see what's going on.

Man about town.

Good luck.  Reports suggest the block was evacuated.

The whole area's closed off. They won't let me in even though I live there. It might reopen tonight.

They're still spraying the fire. I think my building is standing, but I can't get close enough for a good look.

Not sure which is your building but:

According to various people at the scene, the second building (which is reportedly 121 2nd Avenue) has collapsed completely.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  You're in my thoughts and Deb's too.

Anyone know if the 4, 5 & 6 are running?  And, if so, how bad the delays are?

Liquid -- do you need a place to sleep tonight?

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”
