Do you have to stay around Union square? Honestly it's pretty grim.

Conference hotel. Coming from Munich, a little reality might be good for them honestly.

A couple of trips ago there was a freshly murdered corpse on Market, which was a bit much.

There's always a wait at Swan's, even if you're just one person, so if the kids aren't good at waiting in line then it's not for you guys.  I didn't recommend Hog Island at the Ferry Building for the same reason.

We've managed to hit Swan a couple of times on off-hours, and were seated pretty darn quickly.  But yeah. there are fewer and fewer off hours.

We love the Filbert Street steps for a great hike and views topping out at Coit Tower (if you're lucky, you might even see the famous parrots), Buena Vista Park for sure for great views, and nothing wrong with with Fort Point, for some of the most stunning views of the Golden Gate, as well as waves smashing up all around. Kids might just love the old batteries and fort.
