Only 66. His show was great.

devastating... the man was a brilliant writer and a comic's comic. i've missed his comic voice over the last decade.

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

It seems I misspelled his name; it's Garry, not Gary.

Last thing I remember was a spectacularly uncomfortable "meeting" between him and Ricky Gervais a year or so back.

The discomfort (and Jeff Tambor) were spectacular on his show.

unfortunate title tag, but a great episode of comedians in cars getting coffee

i just re-watched it earlier this evening and it's not very uncomfortable at all--most of it is actually very interesting and straight discussion of comedy. and it seems quite clearly like the moments of "discomfort" are extended bits, not scripted but improvised.

my annoying opinions: whisky, food and occasional cultural commentary

current restaurant review: house of curry (sri lankan in rosemount, mn)

current whisky review: glen ord 28

current recipe: white bean curry with green peppers

Sorry, posted too tersely. The discomfort is the source of the comedy. Great segment.

Could have put this in the Sneak-Taion dating thread but thought better of it.
