I went to Fausto last night with a mess of people - it's pretty good. I remember L'Artusi being better, but my memory isn't the best. They make a very fine Negroni, and the scallop crudo was great, if too citrus-y. This is probably a feature, though, and not a bug. The "market carrots" (not to be confused with dry cleaner carrots or gas station carrots) were fantastic and threatened to change the way I think about carrots, which is without much fondness. I wasn't crazy about my whole wheat chitarra with mushrooms, egg and parmesan, though. Heavy and kinda one-note.
The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and we had to wait a half hour to get seated for our 6:30 reservation. And then the place cleared out altogether - we were the only occupied table at 8:30. Is this a Monday thing? A Brooklyn thing? Does everyone eat at the exact same time, now?
