I feel like I know enough to say that no one here would have liked the meal I had at la lou this weekend.

Really, the new wine bar on vanderbilt?  Sneak, was the wine list at least impressive.. Walked by last night and it was totally packed.. I really like the owners, hopefully they will turn it around.

Ason, I keep planets in orbit.

Not particularly.  Certainly not the by-the-glass list.

Indeed, it seems kind of nuts to me to have a wine bar with such an inextensive by-the-glass list.  I really don't get it.

But also, if this is what Ashley Rath wants to cook, she must REALLY have not enjoyed cooking at The Grill.

The appetizer part of the menu doesn't look very wine friendly.  (And having only one sparkling wine by the glass is out of step mit der Zeitgeist).

Right.  That's the other thing.  There's nothing about the menu that really complements the wines.

But the real bottom-line problem is that the food is just so ordinary.  Not worth walking up the street for.

Well, that's ethnic restaurants for you.

I had issues with the execution and conception too.

Yeah.  Those gnocchi-like dumplings didn't work, for example.

Better than soup on a plate.

my steak was salted to death, overcooked, and half the odd sauce was cold.

the dumplings were the best thing we had.
