758 Seneca Ave, Ridgewood, NY 11385

Yelp, you have steered me right once again.. Miss A and I found ourselves in Ridgewood Friday night.. We were driving, it was like 10 pm and well, we would have gone home if not for having hired a baby sitter.   We had a meeting that ended early and well, we already paid for the time so, we had a little outing...

When we arrived to this cute little spot, we were greeted with the amazing sounds of a cover band.. One guy with an electric guitar, another with a drum kit and a synthesizer..  They were covering, Heart of  Gold by Neil Young.. Different arrangements, a soulful, scratchy voice with a thick accent, it was everything...

We got down to business and ordered some things.. Of course you have to get the spicy momo...

Hot pork dumplings served in a firey cold tomato broth...

Worth the price of admission:

next up was goat skewers... heavily spiced, heavily fatty, parts were inedible but, after chewing for a while, i spit it in the napkin and webt back for more:

Delicious:

Called. not a taco.. it's freaking fantastic.. better than the momo, better than the chew goat, it was so good..  Chicken choila or something like that... Spicy, spiced and delicious.

I really don't remember everything that was in this.. I remember asking for rice and them pointing to a bunch of dried flakes, looking like dehydrated potato flakes and that was rice... apparently, it expands in your stomach because i was feeling progessively through out the car ride home.. A shot of fernet when we reached our destination was needed..

It was inexpensive, interesting and that band was so great.. Really, in a not great way but, a great way... Only on Fridays and Saturdays, I hope we go back.

don't know what the nepali word would be but that's poha in hindi, chire in bengali, or dried, flattened rice.

looks good!

my annoying opinions: whisky, food and occasional cultural commentary

current restaurant review: house of curry (sri lankan in rosemount, mn)

current whisky review: glen ord 28

current recipe: white bean curry with green peppers

facts are meaningless. you could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

I think that's the wrong conjunction.

They really should sell that tomato momo sauce by the bottle. Not that I don't have enough hot sauces in my fridge already, but I'd make the room.

I feel sick that my List just recommended boring Houdini Kitchen Lab in conjunction with a show at H0L0 when this is such a vastly better choice.

We don’t have the conjunction in English.

As I was with a vegetarian, we had the plantain dumplings.  They were fantastic.

I had the goat platter (not the skewers) for a main.  Good good good.
