I did a Sunday evening at a normal sort of time (8.30 I think), but I was quick off the mark.

Sneak's assessment seems accurate so far.

If ever there was a restaurant that fulfilled its proffer, it's this one.  It does what it sets out to do -- and no more -- beautifully.

Feed the visitors to a photography museum?

That's not what it sets out to do, any more than The Modern sets out to feed the visitors to MoMA.

There's a separate museum cafe.

So, are you going to tell us what you ate?

I told ya.

Unusually, no bar-stools, but I propped my foot on the rail. That reminded me of the original, similarly curved bar at the 21 Club.

But the chandelier!

The chandeliers in the dining room too. The whole place is a knockout.

Yeah.  The painting on the wall treatments:  gorgeous (and so subtle!).  And, yes, the lighting fixtures (on the floors and the tables, too).  Roman and Williams just nailed this.

Just so Jesikka's head doesn't explode:  sure, I'ma hang out at Ernesto's much more than here.

But this is a very valuable thing for New York to have.  It fills a real need.

I hope Chef Aikens stays on for a long time.

I think the larger question, vis-a-vis multiple head explosions, is will you hang at Enesto's more than you hang at Frenchette?
