What happens when your suit just fits and you eat and drink on this business trip? I've usually found that every "easy off 5 pounds" is just as "easy on 5 pounds".

Inspired by joe and Behemoth, here is "home did" pimento-green olive cheese.    About half a pound of white cheddar cheese curd, several ounces sharp cheddar, 4 oz cream cheese, 4 oz pimentos, 2 tbs mayo.       Husband said it was still too bland so we tossed in several tablespoons pimento stuffed olives.   Has authority now

THANK YOU BOTH!    Who knew potted cheese was such a piece of cake!

C'mon, you can't really complain about the price of that cookware, can you?

Giving up a meal at Frenchette, or a meal or two at any of the multitude of places you dine at, will buy you a piece of cookware that will provide joy for a lifetime.

Actually, this has been my lifetime philosophy.    Or as husband puts it when I am balking at the cost of something i want, "How many glasses of champagne would that buy you in Paris?"

We live at a wonderful time...I guess.   Everything that is worth concern in my body was discovered peripherally in a CAT or MRI that was ordered to check out another situation.   As in, "Your xxx is just fine, however we noticed that your yyy shows some zzz."    At my age, I just smile and scamper.

joe, husband thanks you.   I remembered a splat of leftover beans in the fridge.    Sauted  large slice of homemade bread in olive oil, spread with warmed smashed beans, poured a glass of white and delivered him a 10am tray.    A warm comforting snack after spending the morning hauling broken limbs to the chipper pile.

I recently described arriving in the country to find the top quarter  (35 feet) of our redwood snapped off by high winds.

This week, we arrived to find 2/3 of an olive tree ripped off, a large limb from another down, major damage to several oaks.  Neighbor lost two giant oaks, one of which crashed onto a 200year old out-building, the property's original home.   Some of this was wind damage, most was from heavy wet snow aka Sierra Cement.

Indoor temp has ranged from mid-40s to mid-60s, which now feels downright toasty.
