  1. I got a bit of sticker shock from the Kunik (I think I've only gotten the mini before). So I'm glad I only put out half of it, because it got scarfed up right quick.
  2. There's a bunch in the freezer. Come on by.
  3. Squished eleven people into my living room and stuffed them full of brunch. Bagels from Davidovitch; whitefish, herring, lox & smoked trout from Acme; Ben's cream cheese; pickles from Pickle Guys; tomato and onion from the guy outside the Citibank. Avocado cream and crudite. Celery salad with parm, parsley and walnuts; winter greens salad; deviled egg salad with ikura. Cheese from Formaggio Essex and Valley Shepherd; Asian pear and fuyu persimmon. Bloody Mary's, OBVIOUSLY.

    Supper

Everyone snapped 'em up for 7 Fishes.
  5. I have a run-of-the-mill bathroom scale that has worked reasonably well for the decade or so I've had it. Yesterday when I stepped onto it, it made a crunching sound, as if it were full of twigs and pebbles all of a sudden. And it's knocked 30 lbs off my weight. Anyone know what happened to it?

    Borgo

And you can certainly see why.

I need to know where everyone's planning to be, so I can arrange introductions.
  8. Helen Rosner recommends three panettones, two of which are sold out. Not very service-y! https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-food-scene/three-exceptional-panettones

I hope you said hey to my friends Jenny and Russell.
  10. If you go into a frenzy of tidying up and mistakenly delete your beautiful Restaurant Map and then mistakenly also empty your Google drive trash, you can ask Google to recover it, and they will.

I am very fond of that space, which is small and underground and somehow still does not feel claustrophobic.

    Penny

I more than kinda miss it. I loved it there.
  13. That's the big advantage to not eating meat. So much space in the freezer for gin.

    Supper

Clumsiness. I've never broken anything because I was angry. I'm just an oaf. A really small oaf.

    Frog Club

That jumped out at me, too. I can definitely laugh at eating bad food, though. It's paying for it that I find extremely unfunny.

Yum Talay with squid (good, but I need to cut the vegetables smaller). Butternut squash soup, which was too sweet because it’s made out of butternut squash. This is from last night. Tonight I broke that wine glass, and now I don’t have it anymore. ☹️
  17. I used to hear that song at the roller rink. Dunno who DJ'd there, but they had some interesting ideas about what would be fun to skate to.

Sietsema's out of a job. The NYT needs a reviewer. Math isn't my strong suit, but...
  20. You know who hates wasting food? Me. Me is who. I feel the congratulations of the universe every time I figure out how to use something it would be easier to throw out. Also, I am a little nuts.
  21. I ordered 6 oysters and got 7, but the joke was on me, 'cause one of them was very not into opening, so much so that I had to throw it in the oven for some convincing. And then you don't really want to eat it raw, so I did something I've never done before: I made an oyster shooter. So. Now I have done this and don't need to do it again.
