  1. Interestingly, the certain guys (and, yes, they were all male, I believe) who drove away posters with their ugliness have now gone away themselves (or curtailed their posting)...thereby making it obvious they cared little about this Board.
  2. Suzanne, it appears that you somehow (intentionally?) got it backwards. Advertising is greatly reduced because circulation and readership had dramatically dropped off.
  3. Sammy, I confess I'm missing whatever your subliminal message might be.
  4. This is a bit hard to believe. From deadline.com...
  5. Y'all are making me wonder if I made a mistake converting to an iPhone 7.
  6. Margaret, when I need dough to rise, I heat up a spare oven in advance, then turn it off but leave the oven light on while preparing the dough. I leave the oven light on during the rise process in the oven.
  7. Favored restaurateurs here (including Robert Del Grande) have said a number of times they much prefer the parts of the animal that get exercised. The veal chop would not qualify. It lacks the texture and flavor that more active cuts have.
  8. I tend to think of veal chops as boring and totally dependent on its sauce treatment. Unless the iconic listing cites the sauce treatment, then I'm surprised a veal chop would be considered iconic.
  9. Yes, Joe, we have dramatically toned down the prep time/demands. And we have not observed any diminution in guest enjoyment.
  10. Interesting and worthwhile posting!
  11. Margaret, can't visualize anything "depressing" about this scenario once the event gets started. After it's over, you'll surely be feel good about having done everything. Totally a normal sequence!
  12. I'm still thinking about the restaurant workers' position. Perhaps it's similar to the situation when the tip is automatically added to my tab by the restaurant. I'm always amused, and perhaps even pleased, because the percentage they automatically add is always less than what I would have offered up. If people know the servers are more dependent on the tip, then the servers are likely to fare better...which I guess is their position on this.
  13. Can anyone guess what my opinion is on this? No? Okay, I think Paul's posting appropriately avoids politics and talks about a real-life situation affecting food and beverage servers (and this site is [sometimes, at least] a food and beverage site). Plus, it is an interesting position taken by the restaurant workers...and it makes a lot sense.
  14. JoAnne's favorite parts of the chicken are the wings. My grandmother in Texarkana TX (not Ark) had a large hen house in her back yard -- I remember her saying many times that her favorite part was the one that goes over the fence last. I'm a thigh person but like wings okay also.
  15. Okay, I can comment now. I thought that was some time ago. It seems like it. It is unimaginable that the subject posting(s) should be deemed political. Regardless, as a northeast-centric board, whatever y'all state is policy, then so be it. Kind of sad what y'all are missing, but that's okay. It is interesting, to me at least, the differences in regional mindsets. Moving on! (Or in coming!?!)
  16. p, It appears that you seem to be referring to me. Please, if you will, private message me what you are referring to...I have no clue and my (acute?) curiosity has not been answered by private messages I've already sent out). [EDITED TO REQUEST] If possible, please provide me an approximate timeline on when the the subject posting appeared here. Thanks!
  17. Perhaps worth noting up thread, a transition from a stream of expletives to a semblance of eloquence is not convincing. The facts are what they are even if they aren't what might be preferred. (Unrelated to the foregoing two comments hereinabove, on a totally different slant, "Thank you, Daniel!") [EDITED TO ADD] It's my understanding, Kim, that John Creasey authored well over 600 (the number is unverifiable) manuscripts/novels under ~28+ pseudonyms. I need to check my genealogy research and see where/how we surely are related.
  18. Just an observation and NOT A COMPLAINT! As I believe I have constructively told Paul, the definition of "political" here is way too broad and beyond common preconception. The broad interpretation probably has deterred a lot of participants and discourse that would be of value. Even so, the rules are acceptable as indicated by the strong endorsement that appears to be evident.
  19. He did a large dinner for us back in the '70s. Very memorable for its excellence in every respect, including his commentary.
  20. Since bread is not on my diet, my interest was primarily for special occasions/events.
  21. Kim, get an Kobo Aura One. Totally open market and very good hardware/firmware.
  22. Margaret, thanks (but that link blocks access to the recipe). Here's another link that that I was able to find that, hopefully, provides the correct recipe... NYT No Knead Bread
