  1. Sister of Sam Clayton (still with Little Feat) and the great backing singer on Gimme Shelter!
  2. I once almost got arrested for climb8ng on the rocks above Pacifica; just got ticketed instead. Half Moon Bay is lovely…have you ever been here…https://www.duartestavern.com/
  3. I know California has a lot of coastline; I mean, I lived in Santa Barbara, have spent time in San Diego, Santa Cruz, Marin, etc. but I just think the Sonoma coast is so beautiful. And driving around and through rural Sonoma county, you could easily be in another land. This is the Russian River meeting the Pacific Ocean. At Jenner, CA. At the mouth of the river, harbor seals haul out and have their pups. Like, hundreds of them. At what is called Goat Rock Beach.
  4. The wine people I’ve been talking to in Healdsburg are all jealous of our closeness to Chambers. The wine lists in Sonoma tend to lean Sonoma-ish, but our friends who own two places have managed to stretch that out.
  5. Almost as reasonable as the $10 corkage at Hawksmoor on Mondays.
  6. Makes a $29 hamburger and fries seem a relative bargain. With meat!
  7. A “fever” is not like any of the opiates I’ve ever done.

    Mischa

Yea, I guess the $29 hot dog wasn't enough to keep it afloat. Not even for a year.

    Frog Club

This may be in Matthew Schneier's review, if it gets published. I can't wait to never go to this restaurant.

    NFL 2024-2025

They just (ok, an hour ago) had a big argument about that on WFAN...callers weren't happy that the hosts feel the Giants got way better because of who they were able to pick up. There was no way they were going to match the Eagles' offer; money better spent elsewhere.
  11. As were my ancestors; my bubbe made quite a mean chou farci. As did (and does) most every kosher and kosher-style deli.

    Zendaya

I don't think Zendaya was the only "too thin" person (dis) appearing last night. There were a lot of clavicles in attendance.
  13. I made this this morning. In between a Spanish tortilla (way less oil) and an Italian frittata. So may a torttata or a frittilla?

    Supper

First night cooking at home in almost a week! Mise. Stir-fried pork with asparagus, carrots and onions, in a Cantonese style.
  15. Thanks. Sometimes I'm not with the most adventurous of eater, so sweet service, booze, and room are just as important! I'd imagine the quality of product they can use might be a step up from, like, a Cecchi's. Even if it's just for the salad. Or quail, actually.
  16. So we have a birthday dinner coming up there in a couple weeks - you think it's worthy? We have always liked the room, and my plan for this upcoming trip is to do a bunch of classics. We're doing Tadich and Zuni, for example. Was even thinking of Delfina, as we've had good meals there in the past and they recently (well, 2022) reopened. And still on my mind...La Ciccia.

    Le French Diner

I almost ordered the oeufs mayo. But after reading this, I didn't...https://www.grubstreet.com/article/oeufs-mayo-nyc.html
  18. I'm just sad he didn't spend any time at the dishwasher station (at least not that I remember seeing). Fortunately, we have Priya for that...
  19. Found a chance to get myself into Le French Diner earlier this week and had a lovely dinner and some nice wines by the glass. (Significant Eater and I had tried to get in a week or two ago, but it was later in the week, and there was a wait, and...we didn't). Started with socca, nice and oily and salty (as it should be, imo). It's not conducive to taking great pictures, but what the hell... Then I moved on to a massive duck breast, with chicories and grapes... I asked for the breast to be cooked to medium, and was told that (and I'm paraphrasing here): "You shouldn't worry, we cook it properly." And they did - I ate the whole damn thing. Finished with dessert, cause why not?
