This is actually a place I'm NOT curious about... Two Bridges Luncheonette has bagels, coffee, ice cream and $3 PBR Who? What??

As Robert DeNiro once got asked, what's a mook mote?

    Supper

Dusted off the paella pan last night... Chicken paella. With a nice socarrat.
  4. That must've been me, as I recently saw the tribute to Doc for his 100th birthday at the Rubin Museum. Tennessee Stud...
  5. I'm pretty sure the same woman said the same thing to me. That's something I have not tried (not the exploding head, but fish kidneys), at least not to my knowledge.

Current Octoberfest menu has some nice stuff on it, including fried pig's feet (here called sulze), sauerbraten and a smoked pork shoulder. This is the smoked pork shoulder, over sauerkraut, and topfenknödel. We shared this dish, and I still brought some home. The greens were broccoli rabe the other night.
  7. God bless him! Not quite in the same vein, but a number of years ago we went to see Glenn Tilbrook at City Winery. For a number of songs, one of his sons played guitar and maybe sang some background vocals. Then, for the encore, he brought out another son to play a mini keyboard...I think the kid was about 7.
  8. If memory serves me correctly, yes!

I saw that and then worried that they might see this article about Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin.
  10. Thanks! And I think I had one of the hottest dishes I've ever had at Khao Kang. Yeah, MaoMao looks great.
  11. This is good to know; we certainly don't get out to Elmhurst that often (one time was when I got my first Covid vax at Elmhurst General, and we brought home from Ayada), but I do remember enjoying Zaab Zaab. What else should be on our list. @SethG? I did try the new Zaab Zaab in Essex Market yesterday...they might need a little more time to get up to speed. And when something says "grilled," cooking it on the flat top is not exactly the same thing. We've been once - enjoyed the drunken noodles, pork larb, and sausage. The spring rolls were good too - nicely fried, not greasy.

    NHL 2023-24

Yeah, that pass was pretty great.
  13. Hey - they had a lot of wins; they just come in the regular season, and since so many teams make the playoffs, they don't mean that much.

One assist so far; not bad as he looks like he's 12. MSG+ Network wants over $300 for the season - I say bite me.
  15. Saw this fabulous show at the Whitney last week: Henry Taylor: B Side. Should not be missed.
  16. And the 101-win Orioles are doneski, as baseball seeks to suck every last penny out of its fans by expanding the post season even further.
  17. Just a little interesting, but we went to the Ayada Thai in Chelsea Market last week (Elmhurst is too far (and we were already over at The Whitney)), and it waS surprisingly decent. For not being the mother ship, and for being in Chelsea Market.
  18. Well, Kossar's, but version 4.0. Back during version 2.0, we could stumble home after midnight on a Saturday night/Sunday morning, and I could get a fresh out of the oven bialy, which could be eaten just like that. I could also get a pletzel or a large or small bulka. Fortuitously, I just received Rossner's newsletter in my email. To wit:
  19. If I could get a bialy properly baked, with real onions and poppy seeds, fresh out of the oven - I'd eat it just like that. However, I can't. Splitting it and toasting it offers more of what it ought to taste like.
  20. I like to show off my knife skills.
  21. No need to say much more... n Not pictured - 2 herring filets, bagels, tomato, red onion, butter.
  22. A couple of 1794 Cocktails. With thanks to Dominic Venegas, of Range in San Francisco.

And it's usually full of mooks.
  24. My first residence, after moving to Santa Barbara in '76, was a house in Goleta. My 3 NY housemates and I all got arrested in that house...for growing weed! There's more to the story (like the lawyer we'd met downtown at Baudelaire's (do you remember that place?!) who happened to like other mind-altering substances), but that can wait till another time. Is anything the same? It's still better than most, in my opinion!
