  1. Had the worst, oversalted, poorly seasoned, ill-conceived food and drinks in my life at MCF. 2 utterly regrettable experiences.
  2. A few years ago we got tickets to see Paul Simon at The Town Hall. He got the flu and cancelled. Also, one of the most uncomfortable theaters I have ever visited. A real let down of a night.
  3. In the mid 90s and early naughts I lived nearby her shop and went frequently. She definitely gave that advice to me and many others. She also told me that she used cardboard to make her smoked Mozzarella. It was delicious and I never believed her.

I am so sorry. May his memory be for a blessing, @Mitchell101
  5. My wife's mother passed away very suddenly and somewhat unexpectedly on May 23, 2025. One day she was driving around running errands, the next she fell down, hit her head and injured her kidney. Then they found out she had Cancer Fever and was untreatable. Within days she was gone. I was by her side with my wife. Just as I had been with my biological mom who lost her cancer battle nearly 20 years ago. For the last 2 decades (nearly as long as my biological mother) she had seamlessly stepped in and filled the role for me. It's a strange life to have lost two mothers. She was a single mom who put herself through nursing school and later got a phd and became a therapist, worked for years with veterans. Bought her home. Travelled the world. Walked the Great Wall. Slept under the stars in a field in South Africa. Raised three kids alone and survived the loss of a son. An incredible mother and woman. Rest in peace, Sue.
  6. Pizza was in the air
  7. 2 of my favorite discard recipes: pizzas and waffles. The best frozen waffles for quick breakfasts. Recently, I have been par baking my pizzas before topping and not using the broiler. Curious to see how your next ones come out. Having the fresh herbs to snip on from your own garden is one of the true joys of making treasure out of 'trash' with discard.
  8. Another super exciting conclusion. This was a game of real highs and lows for both teams.
  9. Dan Dan Noodles looks delicious. Both look great.
  10. Do it and post the results. Be the trendsetter we all believe you are.
  11. Last Night's Abeez....
  12. The original grocery store was great, but the tiny Essex Street Market space was truly special.
  13. "Is she really going out with him?"
  14. The documentary is also fantastic. Kenny was a huge influence on me as a chef. I didn't necessarily want to emulate him, but his creativity and ingenuity stood out to me as I figured out my path. Shopsins was a place where my father, brother and I often communed. My father and Kenny would trade cantankerous old man patter until Kenny napped in a chair beside our table. Good times. Good eats.
  15. Put me in the love camp. Kenny's book is great, too.
  16. Way too young from an aggressive case of Blood Cancer. Started a charity that received around a quarter of a million stem cell donations. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2025/apr/29/the-alarm-frontman-mike-peters-dies-aged-66
  17. Don't worry. We won't tell Significant Eater.
  18. And I don't need a cure....
  19. I worked with Adrian years ago. Back when he was still just a borough commissioner. Good times.
  20. "Alright Well, he was only 5'3", but girls could not resist the stare Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole Not in New York"
  21. He never got called an asshole.
