  1. Caleb Williams completed the Hail Mary of all Hail Marys but somehow the Rams won in OT.
  2. But Wilf goes to Hinds concerts. That should count for something.
  3. Well, there is the Goodbye topic.
  4. There is a strong resemblance.
  5. Not that I am a Miami fan, but at this point I would love to see the Canes beat the Hoosiers because I am so tired of hearing what a genius Cignetti is. Enough already. And I'd like to see his losing scowl.
  6. Who's the blonde?
  7. David Chan's history of Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley with a shoutout to Chowhound. https://chandavkl2.blogspot.com/2026/01/50th-anniversary-of-authentic-chinese.html
  8. Is Sydney Sweeney the BB of today?
  9. Recently viewed a scratchy print of "The Night They Took Miss Beautiful" which mixes a kidnapping plot with government secrecy and germ warfare. Quite a mess with Gary Conway, Phil Silvers, Victoria Principal, Henry Gibson, Sheree North, Stella Stevens, Chuck Connors and Jonathan Banks.

    Joe Ely

    He musta gotta lotta.
  11. IIRC, the underground paper was the East Village Other.
  12. It's climbing up to 79 here today.
  13. Paul Thomas Anderson was selected best director by the LA Film Critics. And also by the New York Film Critics and the National Board of Review. So, this hat trick foreshadows the Golden Globes and Oscars.
  14. About 45-50 minutes in, I was projecting what was going to happen if this were a 90-100 minute feature. But then there were new characters and events moving the story toward the present which makes for a more complicated narrative than the one I thought I saw coming.
  15. True.
  16. "One Battle After Another" is not a film for everyone. At times it felt like a letter from my late 1960s-early 70s self to me today. Benicio del Toro has been getting acting awards, but I really enjoyed Sean Penn's over the top tight ass Col. Lockjaw (a Pynchon name if ever there was). All the acting and the directing by Paul Thomas Anderson are first rate. Of course, certain parallels can be drawn between government overreach in the past and in the present day. So, will the revolution be televised?

    Gigs

In some parts of the country they got deejays to play their version over Them's.

The Shadows of Knight also covered "Gloria."
  19. Ken Burns' "The American Revolution" covers all the things you didn't learn in American History class. Thorough, engrossing, entertaining. 6 episodes on PBS.
  20. Charli's "Chains of Love" is not Aretha's.
  21. And yet Mr. Christgau's blog is entitled "And It Don't Stop."
  22. The Dodgers seem to have lost their bats.
  23. How about those Dodgers? Epic!
  24. The way to avoid the bullpen is to get a complete game from your starter. Arigato Yamamoto!
  25. So much for the Dodgers' bullpen.
