  1. I can’t recommend Aleria enough in Athens. Just a fantastic dinner in a beautiful courtyard.
  2. They are playing a night show with Jadu Heart during Jazzfest. I’ve listened and watched, just not my thing.

And guess who was just added as a special guest at Trombone Shorty's Treme Threauxdown during Jazzfest?
  4. If you are still in Austin on Tuesday you can see Carolyn Wonderland at the Continental Club.
  5. My fish store is charging $50 per lb for those scallops…..
  6. You are the first woman who noticed his face.😀
  7. Always a highlight when the Jazzfest schedule comes out. Makes me happy o one hand and has me pulling my hair out with my other hand as there are so many tough choices as to who to see. There are 4 acts I want to see all playing at the same time on 1st Saturday..... Or 2nd Saturday, Pearl Jam vs Ledisi singing Nina Simone. https://www.nojazzfest.com/music-schedule/
  8. I’m going to be in Milan and the Piedmont area in November so will also appreciate any recs.
  9. I've been meaning to try this place on Kent in Williamsburg as our daughter lives a short walk away. Finally dropped in over the weekend and had a very enjoyable dinner at the bar. Place was virtually empty at 7:30PM but filled up by 8:30. Mostly small plates to share, it was suggested we order 5 or 6 dishes. We went with 5 which was just the right amount. Highlights were the fava been tartlet, scallops and stuffed morels. A few excellent cocktails and interesting WBG. We will definitely be back. ETA: We used the InKind app and got $50 off the bill right there. I was skeptical when I downloaded the app but it worked. What am I missing?
  10. Deepest condolences, may his memory be a blessing….🙏

My daughter met him at the Super Bowl Sunday. She said he couldn’t have been nicer. Almost as friendly as Flava Flav.😛
  12. Annie Hall and Serpico two of my faves….

A few shows over the last month or so: The Black Crowes at The Capitol: Fun show but very short. Only 90 minutes. Chris R was in really good form. Brother Rich looked like he'd rather be anywhere else other than the Capitol stage. Joe Russo's Almost Dead at The Capitol: These guys continue to get even better. Fantastic arrangements that always surprise. Marco Benevento's piano solo on "Eyes of the World" could have taken place at Carnegie Hall. They played twice as long as the Black Crowes. Drive By Truckers at District Music Hall (Really nice newly redone venue in Norwalk, CT) playing their Southern Rock Opera in its entirety plus a ton of other songs. Really good show. We got to meet the band before the show as one of my friends went to high school with Patterson Hood. They were on fire from beginning to end and continue to bring the rock and roll energy and political activism that defines them. We noticed a few people walking out when Patterson went after the current administration before getting into "Surrender Under Protest." So be it!

    Paris

We were only in Paris for 2 nights and wanted to eat more modestly after two nights at Troigros. Highlight was at O.S.E. in the 18th. Run by two chefs with 3 star training, they are putting out very good food via a limited menu (2 starters, two mains, one dessert + cheese) for 45 Euros pp. Menu changes constantly. Very good in a small but comfortable space with really nice wine list too. Just a caution, my wife has a huge crush on one of the chefs so beware! (She has a conflicting crush on Cesar Troisgros....) PS Stopped in to funky and fun cocktail bar, Lost Generation before O.S.E. Only a 3 minute walk and worth it. bartender has some serious skills.
  15. Wilf, you’d go crazy over the cheese cart. At least 40 cheeses on the cart. Day 2, breakfast was ridiculously good. Amazing spread on the table including yogurt, fruit, head cheese, meat, salmon, cheese, tarts, etc. Then served to order the softest scrambled eggs with tomato compote and fried sage. Dinner tonight was even better than last night. Got to meet Cesar who is just as amiable as his father. He’s coming to NY next month for an event and will be dining at Atomix and Bangkok Supper Club. He said he’s looking for inspiration so of course we recommended Foxface.👍 He wrote it down as he said he had one open night. Sad to be leaving tomorrow…..
