I'll be in the Bay Area for several days early next month. My brother moved to Oakland in April so I'm heading out to visit. All I know is that we're going to see the Giants play the Jays while I'm in town.

Reasons to be Cheerful

For the second spring in a row the boy's baseball team has clinched the West Side Little League Majors Championship. Team was down 1-0 with two outs when he bunted his way onto first and eventually scored the first run to start a come from behind rally. Boys ended up winning 4-2. It was an exciting game and I'm so proud of these kids. -

Is it possible you bought it the weekend the store had everything at 20% off? -
In addition to the Costume Institute, the Raphael show is not to be missed at the Met.
-
There are also excellent skyline views from Governor's Island.

We saw Bruce last week at UBS. Granted he doesn't move around the stage like he used to, but it was a great show. I think the version of The Ghost of Tom Joad that he did with Tom Morello was absolutely incredible. This is the first show I've been to at UBS (I've been to a lot of hockey games) and the sound system is excellent. Reminded me of the days of seeing the Dead.

I attended the 2026 edition of the Biennial earlier this week. They exhibited a combination of older works from their holdings - a stunning O'Keefe, Johns, Rauschenberg, Warhol, Hopper, etc. And also contemporary work which I thought was a mixed bag. There was several pieces related to the destruction of last year's Altedena fire. I'm always in awe when someone is able to turn something awful into beauty. As an aside, I attended with a friend from LA so it led to a long discussion about how many people she knows whose homes were destroyed and left with nothing.

I read the first one and found it to be meh. So I never read the subsequent books. I think I'm the only one who felt that way.

I've been watching Rooster on HBO. I'm a sucker for any comic that happens in a university setting. Danielle Deadwyler is great.

I always enjoyed reading her posts. Please pass on my condolences to John and his family.

The store bought stuff is disgusting because of the fat they use. Kosher for passover mustard is imitation. And I've never never managed to make a mayo with out mustard that didn't break. So for the second year in a row I'm thrilled about the aioli.

I absolutely loathe Passover. Every year starting 10 days before all of my discussions with friends focus on how we hate this holiday. The turnover is an absolute bitch. And despite all my lists and organization I'm constantly searching for utensils and kitchen items. And my kitchen wasn't ready until after 4 this afternoon when I really wanted to get started last night. Just kill me. I'm hosting first night. 5 adults, 2 kids. Soup is cooling. Aioli is done (kosher for passover mayo is an abomination). Kid made almond flour brownies. And the orange's for Roden's Gateau L'orange should be beeping momentarily. Brisket needs to be made overnight in crock pot. And chicken needs to prepped.

I binged the first 5 episodes of Drops of God, season 2 yesterday. Now I'm eagerly waiting the final episode.

Just finished digging out the car because the kid has hockey practice tonight. I need a spa day.

I made it back from Marlboro, MA to the Upper West Side in 2.5 hours. Managed to beat the snow. And the boy's team is Pee Wee C champions. Great weekend for hockey. -
Today's missing objects that no one could find but me were: a hockey glove (it was under a skate) and the navy road jersey. He's shown up at at a game missing a glove and an elbow pad once in 4 years.

The frequency with which my kid tells me he needs my help to find something missing because "he looked REALLY, REALLY hard! All over the place" and then I find it within seconds is out of control. And in the process I often find things that no one has noticed missing - yet. My personal favorite is when I ask if he looked in a specific place, he says yes but it's not there but somehow it miraculously appears as soon as I walk over.

Episode 5 packs an incredible emotional punch. And Six is sweet and tender.
-
Yes - episode 5. Which is amazing!
-
But are you coming to the cottage?
-
We initially were parked on the wrong side of the street which meant that the plows shoved all the snow against the car. I actually needed help from one of the guys who work in my building to dig me out.
-
Finding street parking is a nightmare. There are still mounds of snow everywhere and you can tell who hasn't moved from their space in 2 weeks.

Boy's hockey team won their League championship morning. So proud of the kids. After a brutal start to the season, they haven't lost a game since November. Now it's tournament time. (and it was warmer in the rink than outside)
