  1. The Ailey show is definitely on my must-see list. Last we saw company perform. The evening included the world premiere of a new piece called Many Angels. It was thrilling to introduce the boy to Revelations.
  2. Grilled tuna, perfectly pink in the middle with roasted garlicky broccoli rabe.
  3. I keep seeing a commercial for the perfume Coco de Chanel. I'm convinced that the music used is a riff on Pulp's Common People. Has anyone else picked up on this? (They just showed the spot on the Giants game)
  4. I can't which song it was, but one has a riff that you would swear was the Stones.
  5. Spouse pulled out an old cassette from the '80s of The Kinks that's actually still in tact. My brother introduced me to Kinks when I was about 4 so it brings back lots of memories.
  6. Last night I made a batch of pizza dough (King Arthur recipe). I let rest in the fridge for about 18 hours when I realized that I can't use it tonight. Is it a problem if I freeze it until I'm ready to use it?
  7. I need help - looking for a place to have an unofficial reunion with ~20 people on a Saturday night. Thinking bar that isn’t too dark or noisy and has space to mingle. Some of the bridge and tunnel folk prefer near Penn Station, but it's not a must.
  8. Browsing through Barnes and Noble I discovered that there's a genre of romance novels featuring hockey players.
  9. We're going to my brother-in-law and his wife for the first time in over 25 years. Trying to decide what to bring - I don't have an assignment.
  10. The kid's baseball equipment which we had believed to be stolen (bag, 2 mitts, batting gloves, batting helmet, cleats) earlier in the season has been found by a kid on another team. Fortunately, we know some of kids on that team and one of the mom's contacted me.
  11. I remember learning how to program in BASIC in the early 80s.
  12. I tried a hack from the Challah Prince - I rolled the strands on a damp piece of paper towel and then rolled in za'atar.
  13. Finally nailed the 5-strand braid. Bottom has a Za'atar coated challah. You can really see the triangular shape this braid produces in the top photo.
  14. Last night - LEO. Never fails to delight.

Ben Folds at The Brooklyn Paramount last night. Great show. For the second part of his set he had the audience write down their requests and send them to the stage via paper airplanes which he then picked up randomly from the floor. This led to him attempting unsuccessfully to play a cover of the The Clash's Lost in the Supermarket, an impromptu Bruce Springsteen improvisation and a singalong to a bastardized version of Sweet Caroline. We had third row seats so when been mentioned his show Bowery Ballroom show in 2001 and I screamed in response to being there, I actually got acknowledged. We had never been to this venue before. It's really spectacular. Spouse learned that many years ago LIU used to play basketball on the stage and realized that back in '79 he played there for the Yeshiva High School B-ball Championship.
  16. Fridge drawer pasta. Made a sauce using up some sad looking veg.
  17. We could have a whole thread about Buy Nothing Groups. And as crazy as the things some people offer is that there are takers!
  18. I bet someone would - people give away slices of pizza in the group I'm in. It's crazy what people will take.
  19. How about offer them to your local Buy Nothing group?
  20. Finally finished watching season 3 of The Bear. I think this season was better than the last one. Definitely intense.
  21. We absolutely loved Vienna. Considering your musical backgrounds, you have to incorporate homages to Mozart and Beethoven into the plans.
