  1. NYC Legend! I used to see his son Adrian at the W. 97th street market every week.
  2. My seasonal breakfast has been yogurt with matzo granola.
  3. Not anymore!
  4. Dupe post.
  5. Guess I need to go down to USGM. I see ramp matzo brie with schmaltz in my future!
  6. Speaking of eggs, based on my notes from prior years I made sure to buy 5 doz in advance of the holiday. But I used so many that I sent the boy out to buy an addition 2 dozen.
  7. Conveniently, I have two egg whites in a bowl.
  8. This morning I learned that rizz is derived from charisma.
  9. I hear "slay", "cringe", and "gyat" at home. It's so much fun to live with a member of Gen Alpha!
  10. We were just the three of us for the first night at the boy's request. Last night we had 4 guests and it was actually a lot of fun. Everyone got along and there were a lot of digressions and silliness. For the second year in a row, the boy was an enormous help with prep. He made all the bake goods - coconut cookies (these are not macaroons!), almond flour brownies, and Roden's Gateau L'Orange. And his matzo balls were well flavored and perfectly textured. I started working with him a bit on knife skills with some chopping. My annoyance is that my husband forgot to put back in the fridge the sweet and sour meatballs I made. And I'm still not even sure why he took them out in the first place.
  11. We were obsessed with Thornbirds. "No more nasty hookythorns!"
  12. I already have some ground lamb for passover. I'm not sure if I'll be making koftes or a mina, which is sephardic meat and matzo pie.
  13. With Passover starting in two weeks, I'm trying to empty out my freezer. Since I discovered some homemade pizza dough and some ground lamb, I made a very large lachmagine.
  14. I could never get into Bosch despite reading and enjoying the books.
  15. FDU is so close to the hotel. You lucked out with that.
  16. And do they require that the team buses have to be crimson?
  17. Are those 3 red coach buses in the parking lot yours?
  18. I can only comment on kosher places in Bergen County. There is a huge Korean community in Fort Lee so there are probably some good places there. As Bonner says, you're really close to Manhattan - it takes me 17 minutes to get to Ice House (4-rink complex in Hackensack aka our home away from home) from my apartment on the UWS when there is no traffic. Which means about 12 minutes from my place to your hotel.
  19. BTW, the NY Giants stay at that hotel before all home games.
  20. I can share my opinion of most of the kosher eateries in Teaneck, but I have a feeling that won't be of much interest to you. That said, Patis on Cedar Lane is part of a small chain and everyone I take there enjoys it. Pastries, sandwiches, soup, etc.
  21. The timing of this is spot on - one of my friends from college is visiting Bama with her boys this weekend. They're also considering U of Florida.
  22. I know that hotel very well. I pass it on my way to the rink a minimum of 3x/week. It's actually pretty nice. Some of the best bagels around are to be found nearby on Teaneck Road - Teaneck Road Hot Bagels.
  23. Speaking of Duke - one night last week the boy asked us what a douchebag was. I bit my tongue and did not say a Duke alum.
  24. There's a good chance you're going to be staying in the Meadowlands near MetLife Stadium.
  25. There's only one book I make a point of re-reading once every 10 years or so and that is Pat Barker's Regeneration which is about the poet Siegfried Sassoon and the psychiatrist William Rivers. Each time I read it I discover something different resonates with me.
