That thought had crossed my mind. Having been on the receiving end of that Mets season I wouldn't wish a similar one on Yankee fans. Not even Wilfrid. I think the Yankees have enough depth at position players and enough hitting to make the playoffs. But they're thin at pitching. I wish them well. New York is always more fun when both teams have good seasons.

I did learn something new over the past week. When Keith Hernandez is doing games and a player strikes out 4 times he refers to it as the "golden sombrero." Sportswriters are now calling Stanton's 5 S.O games as a "platinum sombrero." All jokes aside, Stanton will be fine in the long run.

You know what's funny? Our Yankee fans have gotten really quiet. I can hear crickets.

If I was at the Stadium and saw Stanton strike out 5 times I wouldn't be happy about it but I wouldn't boo either. Last year Judge went through a bad patch and figured things out. So will Stanton.

Callaway seems to be routinely getting great performances out of his pitchers. Of course this winning streak can't last forever and one of these days a pitcher is going to stink up the joint but I love the fact that he's got 2 former starters in his bullpen. Good long relief guys can smooth out the days when a starter gets shelled and is yanked after 3 innings.

I have no clue why you think this restaurant will be less popular than Minetta but I doubt that unless youre talking about going in 2 years for breakfast. I doubt very much that the McNally halo is needed for this restaurant to be swamped for years. Edited: Also, I'm not sure why you believe Minetta was SO hard to get into or what timeframe you're referring to as it having required "McNally hoops" to get into. This seems to be kind of made up. I'll let other people make my point for me. Oakapple's blog. I could quote a dozen more but I think th

The Thin Man movies hold up to multiple viewings. Powell and Loy shine so brightly it's hard to notice anybody else although in one of the movies a young Jimmy Stewart makes an appearance and holds his own. Another thing to look for - the suits. Even the 2nd string actors wear beautifully tailored custom made suits.

Lex managed over 50 messages on the MT thread without ever having eaten there. Do you think he can beat the record discussing a non-existent burger at Frenchette? When you were going to Minetta Tavern 3 times a week in prime time to your reserved table walking past the crowds how did that work? Did you call McNally directly or did you set up a direct deposit to his bank account for $5,000 a week? We'd love to know your secret.

Tell us again how to pronounce rioja.

Early days my friend. Early days. Why don't we talk about this after your Dodgers climb out of 4th place in the NL West.

To be more specific, Kershaw is a Cy Young winner during the regular season. In the playoffs he's 7-7 with a 4.5 ERA when he pitches like Neil Young.
-
I think that belongs to Kershaw. Not in the playoffs.

And yet I'm still alive. Golly.

By all accounts the food Nasr and Hanson produced at Minetta was very good. (I never went - I wasn't willing to jump through the McNally hoops.) N & H are proven talents and I expect them to produce food of similar or even better quality at Frenchette. Without the McNally halo effect after the opening crowds die down it should be possible to get a reservation with only a reasonable amount of effort. I look forward to going.
