  1. Sorry, of course you are right. So I will STFU. Have short term memory loss, though, so may need reminding. I am actually more curious about whether it is the unique taste of the foods or the thrill of the risk. Or both, maybe. Have you ever spent a night in a hospital with food poisoning? Very humiliating. Never want to do that again. Even if it was Pacific Heights. Aw, Henry was just kinda joking around. He doesn't mean to come off as an ass 90% of the time online.
  2. I seemed to have missed the business talk. All I read upthread was internet gossip/speculation, laced with a bit of snark. Of course, we can agree to disagree--it is hard to read a person's tone online, etc. etc. blah blah blah...
  3. It's not on the menu, but the seared foie Eggs Benedict with foie hollandaise at Veil is disgustingly delicious. I like their Bloody Maria as well.
  4. Sure, you don't have to be fabulously wealthy to travel, but I think we can both agree that you need a certain disposable income to afford that luxury. If William wanted to sell the restaurant and pursue a new venture, he could have done it whether or not the restaurant was doing well financially. Speculating that a restaurant is being sold because of money issues, especially on a public forum, is pretty tacky.
  5. William sold his restaurant so he could take some time off, get married, go on his honeymoon, and relax. Yes, he's opening a more casual restaurant in about a year. I really doubt it was a monetary issue as someone upthread implied--I don't think he'd have the money to travel if if he wasn't making money at Mistral. He will still be doing Mistral-style food in a private dining room with fewer courses and at a lower price point at the new place. And he's been talking about wanting to open a more casual restaurant for pretty much as long as I've known him, so it's been his intention for some time.
  6. Thanks everyone! Just for the record, I actually always tie my hair back when cooking...I was just slicing a cake in that photo, having made it at home already. The sour cream ice-cream recipe the article has published is a good one. I had a lot of fun that night. Alice Medrich took us out for a late dinner afterwards.
  7. I wish I could afford Louboutin! They're Nine West knock-offs that I bought about a year ago. I was infatuated with the Louboutin ones but couldn't stomach the price tag.
  8. Thanks for all the congrats! We just got our engagement pictures and thought we'd share. Make sure your speakers are on! engagement slideshow

The green dress is my favourite, and I like the last black one as well. Love the half-up dos!
  10. Arghh....dammit, I forgot my parents and Henry's mom will be visiting Seattle that day! So Henry and I are out, but we'll see all of you soon!
  11. We just got back from Vegas and Neil showed us an awesome time down there! We'd love to see him again at the party.
  12. Had a great time. Congrats to Rocky who was my choice as the best! My second favorite was #4 (all wings) forgot who made it. Although I liked the taste of the winning chicken, I found the crust to be soggy and barely adhering to the chicken. Definitely not worth winning in my book. Methinks the fact that the winner had half of the crowd there might have had somehting to do with the win. Rocky, you was robbed! ETA: Oops, that was me (Henry) not Lorna. She's too nice to be posting publicly about fried chicken conspiracy theories.
  13. Yes! In fact, if all goes according to plan, I should be moving back to Seattle next month . And I would LOVE to help you out with whatever you need. Oh man...I am going to eat until I split a seam...
  14. Yes, Henry called Theo's a few days ago (it would have been PERFECT!) but we decided not to go with them because they have plans to expand in the next year, so they may be under construction during the month when we plan to have our wedding. I think we are going to go with Pravda. Henry (Mr. Bridezilla) has already drawn up architecture plans on his computer detailing the layout or the tables/chairs/bars/roast pigs using Pravda's floorplan...
