    Supper

Mrs. P prepared another spectacular feast. She made homemade guacamole and chips, deep fried soft shell crabs and shrimp, and BBQ Creole shrimp in the style of Mr. B’s in New Orleans. I could take a bath in that sauce. It all went great with an excellent California red blend and Italian Primitivo.

    Supper

Mrs. P made her famous deconstructed duck leg confit taco and guacamole. It went great with a nice Malbec. It’s beginning to look a lot like Spring on the deck.

    Supper

The last few days Mrs. P made some excellent fresh Whole black sea bass and filets from Local 130 Seafood in Asbury Park, NJ. I highly recommend them for those living in NJ. During normal times they deliver to some of the top restaurants in NJ, and now they have been delivering to regular customers, usually within 24 hours. https://local-130-seafood-online-shop.myshopify.com/collections/whats-fresh

    Supper

Mrs. P made wild caught bigeye tuna (from Local 130 Seafood) two ways; tartare and black and white sesame seed crusted. We had sugar snap peas, snow peas, seaweed, ginger, soy, and wasabi on the side. The tartare was mixed with avocado, red onions, toasted black and white sesame seeds, and soy sauce.

    Supper

During the week we received some beautiful fresh caught seafood from Local 130 Seafood. I placed an online order on Tuesday night, and Wednesday before noon a Local 130 Seafood delivery truck was in front of my home. Very impressive. I highly recommend them for those living in NJ. They used to deliver to all of the high end restaurants in NJ, but with the lockdown have pivoted to delivering to regular customers. We ordered whole red snapper, black bass fillets, and wild caught Big Eye tuna. One night Mrs. P made some outstanding crispy sautéed black sea bass with capers, vermouth, butter, and various fresh herbs. The other night she made delicious roasted whole red snapper with garlic, fresh herbs, minced peppers and capers, and vermouth among other ingredients.
  10. I got the exact same DM from Pink Pig’s scam Instagram account. They opened a scam account under pinkpignycc (they added an extra c). That certainly was surreal.

    Supper

Mrs. P made an awesome arugula salad with grilled shrimp and fennel that also included minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, paprika, pine nuts, olive oil, oranges, mini peppers, crispy duck cracklings, radishes, and balsamic
  12. That's the good thing about living in NJ; all of the BYO restaurants. That reduces the price of a nice meal to $100 to $150 per COUPLE. I would rather pay more for food then triple or quadruple the price of a bottle of wine. Granted the food might not be as avant garde as NYC but at least it is affordable.
  13. Well the NJ restaurants will welcome you And most of them are BYO What's the plane fare? Under $20 in tolls over the bridge

  21. We had cardoons at Viaggio over a year ago. It was very good. Chef Robbie braised it for several days in garlic, chili, and other ingredients. He then fried it with alfalfa crest and roasted garlic in a Calabrian chili vinaigrette.

    Supper

Mrs. P went all out for Christmas eve! I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present We started out with an outstanding kabocha squash salad inspired by Bloom in Verona, NJ. Mrs. P pureed kabocha squash, roasted Fuji apples, ginger, maple syrup, heavy cream, and butter in the blender. It was topped with homemade candied pecans and laid on top of endives and radicchio, which was the perfect vehicle for scooping up the squash. Next was BBQ shrimp inspired by Mr. B’s in New Orleans. The delicious sauce was scooped up with a crispy 3 seeded baguette. The piece de resistance was a decadent lobster thermidor We had some excellent wine and port. For dessert (not pictured) Mrs. P made a brownie stuffed with peanut butter ganache and topped with chocolate ganache, as well as homemade coffee ice cream with chocolate covered espresso beans.
  24. We finally made it out to Il Nido in Marlboro township and had a spectacular dinner. Our server Sergio was fantastic. Real old school service. It was worth the almost 1 hour trip. I wish this place was closer. We have to find a way to get back here again before the crazy summer traffic. We started off with several appetizers including homemade tagliatelle in a capon bolognese; veal and wild boar meatballs; crispy duck confit with charred onions, shiitake mushrooms, and a puntarelle caesar salad. For entrees Mrs. P enjoyed a beautiful whole black sea bass stuffed with lemons and caper leaves. I enjoyed a supposed 45 day dry aged filet mignon with fresh rosemary, sage, and thyme and a salsa verde. It just melted in your mouth. For dessert we enjoyed the orange olive oil cake. It all went great with an excellent Mario Bazan cabernet.
