OPUS IN Littleton---Personal Announcement

Recommended Posts

Just a quick catch up. I am home (yesterday late afternoon) after a discharge from hell. I will write up a summary in a few days after I get back in the real world, and have a chance to think things through. The short report is the surgery went about as well as could be expected and I am making "normal progress" and will be back in hopefully better condition than I was before in about 6 to 8 weeks.

Thanks again to everyones well wishes and I will write more about the experience shortly. FYI the food was even worse than I thought it was going to be.

I *told* you that I would bring you something- but that might have deprived you of an unforgettable foodie experience, and also motivation to not repeat it.

Glad you're on the mend!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone. I'm sorry I have not posted for a while. I have been composing this long 'rant' about the food at St Josephs but have decided to just say every story you have heard about bad hospital food is true and in some cases it is worse than you have heard at StJoes. I ordered a "filet" one day when my appetite was a little better and I couldn't cut it with a serrated edge knife and when I got a piece in my mouth the more I chewed it the bigger it got. Maybe they forgot to say what animal this came from, not beef, camel maybe?

The good news is that 3 weeks after the operation I am making "normal" progress and things are going pretty well. Gwen and I went out to dinner last night with my food sales friend at a Mexican place we go to often and it was great. I get tired quickly and get short of breath, but I am getting better. Next week I start a 14 visit cardio rehab program at St Joes which is a supervised exercise program with monitors.

I have had a rash on the leg they took the vein out of and I am on an antibiotic for that but the Dr says t is getting better. I am hoping that by the first of the year or soon thereafter I will be better than I was before the surgery. My appetite and taste buds are coming back and my blood sugars are under control. I am optimistic(sp) that things will continue to go well.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and concern. rlm thanks for thr pm. It motivated me.
