1. Friday Night Lights. I'm gonna start shilling like crazy for this show. When I first heard they were turning the movie into a TV show, I figured it would end every week with the team hitting the

oh, damn, i didn't know that. now i'm depressed--i really liked that show.

Here you go -   At the time I wrote that the show was being broadcast on WLIW. It appears to be out of the rotation right now but should be available on Netflix.

Nobody who has any interest in music (or history or justice for that matter) should even think of missing "Summer of Soul" (Hulu and theaters).

In the same year as Woodstock, a series of concerts were held in Marcus Garvey Park, the cumulative attendance for which was on a similar scale as  Woodstock, and the performances if anything probably better. The whole thing was filmed, but never previously shown. This movie combines live footage with an extensive documentary examination of the historical context (it could have done more to answer questions about why none of the content surfaced for fifty years).

It's extraordinary. Everyone will have their own favorites, but I'd pick Mavis Staples, Sly Stone, and obviously Nina Simone.

Not sure why it took us so long but we finally watched this over the weekend. Extraordinary. And I would pick a similar list of favorites but all of the performances were great. I loved the man who was interviewed who said that he and his friends were "suit guys" until Sly took the stage.

As I searched for comments about the film in here I sort of half-assumed I would see a comment from @Sneakeater that he attended all of the performances.

"Squid Game" on Netflix.

I watched the first episode and was like, yeah, that's enough. But then Medium-sized H convinced me to watch the second episode, and now I might be down for the whole nine yards.

Meanwhile, there is talk of a second season despite the fact that the story is supposed to be completed.

See also: White Lotus. And probably others I didn't watch.

Has anyone mentioned Only Murders in the Building? I thought it really took off in episode 3, as if the three main characters were finally comfortable being funny together rather than funny separately. The cat in the freezer. The scene with Tina Fey. Really enjoying it now.

Impeachment: American Crime Story. I just finished Episode 3--great acting by Beanie Feldstein and Sarah Paulson.  Though I wonder if Monica Lewinsky was really that naive, and if LInda Tripp really did everything she did because she wasn't respected at work (though she seems like a humorless grouch who was deluded about her own importance) and had no life other than work.

My take (I've watched all the episodes that have aired so far) is that she was vehemently anti-Clinton - both of them - and very interested in taking them down.

I just finished episode seven. It continues to be very good.

Episode 7, which for good reasons has no (or almost no) dialogue is a tour de force. And the last episode is tremendous; glad to see they seemed to set up season 2.

Might rewatch the first two episodes to see if I was right it was slow to take off, or if I just didn’t get it.
