Last night I stumbled over the episode of What's My Line? in which Groucho is a panelist. I might have seen it before, years ago, but it must be one of the funniest pieces of television ever.

1. Friday Night Lights. I'm gonna start shilling like crazy for this show. When I first heard they were turning the movie into a TV show, I figured it would end every week with the team hitting the

oh, damn, i didn't know that. now i'm depressed--i really liked that show.

Here you go -   At the time I wrote that the show was being broadcast on WLIW. It appears to be out of the rotation right now but should be available on Netflix.

After a break for season hiatuses, inclement weather and a new bout of Covid (hopefully over soon), we resume viewing.

Criminal Minds: Evolution finished its 10 episode arc about a very devious serial killer with a satisfying end while still leaving suspicions of some evil conspiracy deep within the DoJ.  Will there be more of this?

Alaska Daily is back following up on its cliffhanger.  This show seems able to continue as long as Ms. Swank can keep her jaw clenched.  The fate of missing indigenous women remains unresolved.

Perry Mason launched season 2 on a gambling boat off the SoCal coast.  Mason is not satisfied working on civil matters and a new criminal case appears ready to grab his cynical attention. The eye-popping attention to period costumes, locales and other details remains impressive.  You could have quite a drinking game focused on each time one of the players takes a shot, cocktail or goes on a bender.

When the horizon’s at the bottom, it’s interesting.
When the horizon’s at the top, it’s interesting.
When the horizon’s in the middle, it’s boring as shit.
Now get the fuck out of my office.

The Fabelmans was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.

Perry Mason: the noir continues.  Despite his misgivings, Perry takes on a double death penalty case.  Della carries on with her provocative ways, playing beard to the gay DA.  Is Paul Drake the Magical Negro?  I don't know, but he's trying to earn an honest living.  A Chandler patron of the arts appears.  Is it time to toss a temptress in Perry's path?

Just finished 5 seasons of Aggretsuko on Netflix. A sort Japanese cartoon soap opera populated by anthropomorphic animals. It was not what I expected but a totally pleasant surprise.

Next up Kantaro The Sweet Tooth Salaryman about a nerd who lives for sweet desserts

Movies are getting to be like music. Not quite everything available immediately for a small subscription. But I was just wondering whether to watch School Daze or Black Orpheus. The free or cheap universal movie juke box is almost here.

Well, not quite yet. I can always find the song I want to hear (for free). And only sometimes find the movie I want to see (for free). This cannot be because I know more movies than songs.

Perry Mason: no femme fatale yet.  Perry wrestles with his conscience given past mistakes.  Meanwhile he is somehow able to have an ex parte communication with the judge on his case. The judge doesn't seem worried that Perry's clients might be being railroaded. Paul Drake conducts ballistics tests.  Hope Davis uses an early Pilates machine for her core.  Paul Raci is quite the sadist as Lydell McCutcheon, an oil baron.  Could he have killed his own son?

Ninety Day Fiance : The Other Way.  Hard to beat for sheer brazen stupidity and absurdity.

Alaska Daily: Family conflict overshadows the coerced confession being used to set up the indigenous  defendant accused of murder.
